because then you could use the kick sound that EVERY metal band uses.

Hey, look at me, I'm ogdeathgrind and I disagree strongly with all your future opinions because I'm edgy as fuck. Of course my opinions don't mean dick around here because I've proven myself to be a worthless skid mark of a man, but I'll give it to you anyways because I can't seem to figure out when I'm not wanted.

I used Drumagog with one of the Drumkit From Hell kicks for the SoC promo, and it sounded pretty good. There was really only one kick in the batch that sounded good though (I think there's like 8 kicks between the 2 Drum Kit From Hells). Although maybe with some EQ like TIF suggested you could get something good out of the other ones.

I'll definitely try out those compression/eq tips next time I'm doing some recording.

almost all kick samples i have are "Sonar" ones, so if you have any others i'll take them!

well are you going for a nice bass drum sound? or are you going for a gay ass bass drum sound that sounds higher than a snare (justice for all)?

you should get good heads and then tune them well. Also you dont wanna put a blanket in the bass drum...a lot of people do that and its the worse idea ever if you are willing to muffle it. There is special heads, and other muffling things that go inside the bass drum that wont kill the bass drum sound.

Im not a big fan of all the trigger stuff, just listen to the bass drum sound during angel of death right where everything stops and dave just keeps going with the double bass...to me that doesnt sound highly produced but it surely does sound powerful and well tuned

well everything is already recorded, and triggers were used...the trigger sound itself isn't horrible, its not great either, but it doesn't cut through...sounds fine when there's isn't much going on, but when there's lots of cymbal work and palm muting and guitar layers etc you can't even tell there is a kick...so thats my real issue.

the only way i've managed to make the kick cut through is boosting the highs, but then it sounds like ass.

TIF advice helped a bit, but i think this unfortunately goes back to the "polishing a turd" comment...

I'll upload some of those samples in a bit after eqing and compressing them, hopefully I can send you something that will be able to cut through as is.

Oh yeah, Double Bass Mania. I borrowed that from someone and forgot I had it. I can hook you up with that.

http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ and back up your shit to another partition or external media source bro. You're still at risk of hardware failure or power-surge regardless if you cruise the warez/pron sites.

you can either download the torrent so that you can decide which one you prefer, but you can also just buy it directly from the sites I linked you to--it's up to you.

Yeah the samples are pretty amazing sounding on steveslate, very clean and high quality w/ lots of variety.

i think i got something i'm kinda happy with for what i'm doing right now, but i could always use better samples for future projects. but i'll play around with whatever you guys come up with right now anyways, try to work it in as it might turn out better...
as for right now though, drumagog isn't cooperating even though the original kick is triggered...i have the sensitivity at its lowest setting of -0.1 but is still sounds like it adds random beats here and there...pretty wierd...
