Out of that list, I'd go with the Tama Starclassic or DW collectors.

no they work pretty good actually... no complaints from my experience using tamas. I don't think I've ever had any problems with mounts actually.

I love my Starclassic so no disagreements there.

Man, I can't stand floating toms...they flop and bounce around non-stop. To each their own though, I guess.

Looking for a new kit...not really sure what brand to go with though.

Jim has a Pearl kit with the "floating" clamped on holders. they don't move around much.. pretty fucking solid if you ask me.

10ís and 12ís I find quite stable on a good quality stand with the feet opened up and in the correct orientation.
Itís when they try mounting what should be a floor tom at 14 and even seen 16ísÖ My sons gig kit has a stand mounted 14 and itís just stupid..

Most manufacturers make great kits it just finding the best bang for your buck at the price you want to pay meeting your specs. Whatís your budget? Just shells or a complete kit?

I have a 14" floor tom that's mounted to a rack (starclassic floating... mounting... system? whatever the hell it's called, starcast I think) and it doesn't budge all that much. Then again that may be due to the rack, not sure how it would be on just a normal stand.
