I doubt HE paid for them.

What a wicked kit though! Love to hear some clips of the kit with him playing on it.

So i've changed my setup a bit

I went to a more traditional setup for a while
2 rack toms
2 floor toms
hihat in the normal places
but i found that having too much in front of me was distracting me from playing
so i stripped it back down to the 1 up, 2 down setup
lowered my rack tom to just slightly higher than my snare

i still use my remote hihat but its in the normal place, just much higher than what most ppl play at (i sit kinda high too)

anyway, here is the most recent pics!

i'm actually all over the place
i bought almost a my cymbals used

i'll get the model numbers tomorrow but
the hihats are old zildjan scimitars..
the left crash is paiste
the right crash/ride is i think also a zildjan
the ride is a sabian
the splash is a zildjan
and the china is a sabian

The only cymbal i'm not 100% happy with is the ride

What sound are you after in a ride? Or maybe it would be easier to describe what you donít like in your current ride.

unless i hit it right on the bell, it sounds like junk

i tried out a friends 20" ride last week, and it sounded amazing

3 years and 4 or 5 rides later my son found his ride. He started in Jazz so his teachers pushed him towards lighter washy rides but they get lost in Rock/Metal and sound like your riding on a crash.

Big and heavy will bring out the ping but it can be to much. His last ride was a Z custom and wile it had a lot of ping when it got going it 2 would wash out uncontrollably but he loved the bell. Before that was a heavy K ride that was perfect but the bell sucked. Before these it was just generic AAís and A medium and rock rides that did neither rock or lighter stuff well.

About 4 months ago we picked up his latest that he is happy with. Itís a Sabian Hand Hammered Raw Bell Dry Ride. The bell will can kill small animals at 100 feet. And with itís weight and hammering dries it out to control the wash.
These should come on the used market soon as the last time I talked to Dave these have become Sabianís biggest seller and drummers have been known to change there minds about cymbalsÖ Wink
and new they are ridiculously priced at about 350.

That's what I've been playing for the last 2 years. Great overall ride cymbal.

I believe it is the same model that Phil Collins uses but his is a signature series.

hahah if its good enough for phil collins, its good enough for me! Wink

Once i get some money in, I think it'd be best just to go Dave's and try what he has... for now, my ride will work

I think its just an AA but i'll double check that tonight
